AUGUST 2nd-3rd: ARTIST SERIES, White Line Woodcut Printing with Lisa Houck

    Opening Reception: from

White Line Woodcut is a technique developed in Provincetown in the 1920’s. Inspired by European modernism and American crafts techniques, Blanche Lazell and others developed this simple, painterly woodblock method. In this class, you will learn the basics of this woodblock technique, which combines printmaking with watercolor painting. You will start by carving linear drawings into a woodblock and then you will be able to print multiple colors from this block. This is a technique that you can continue working with after the class, with a few simple tools. In this two-day workshop students will be able to create a 4” X 6” print in multiple colors. Students should bring photos, books, and sketches as inspiration for the print designs. All levels of ability are welcome. The cost of the workshop is $125.00. All supplies are provided, including Japanese papers and carving tools. Sets of carving tools will be available for sale. 10 a.m - 1 p.m, each day.
